Following St Kilda's abysmal 35-point loss to the lowly Bombers, the Saints are in much need of any boost they can get.

To help them on their Finals quest, captain Jack Steele is set to return against the seventh-placed Swans this Saturday night.

Should the two-time All-Australian return from an AC joint injury, it will have been 43 days since his initial injury against the Cats on May 14.

Winger Daniel McKenzie will also be available this week after suffering a concussion against Brisbane in Round 13, according to Josh Gabelich at AFL.com.

The left-footer had previously played every game of the 2022 season for Brett Ratten's side before missing Spud's game last week.

Also sustaining an injury in their loss to Brisbane, rookie Mitch Owens was left dazed following a huge head clash with Lincoln McCarthy.

He is set to be ruled out once again this week after failing to exit concussion protocols.

Meanwhile, powerful midfielder Marcus Windhager put up monster numbers against Sandringham in the VFL over the weekend with 32 disposals, 12 clearances and two goals, potentially securing him a spot in the Saints side against the Swans.

Another player looking to regain their spot after missing last week is SSP signing Jarrod Lienert, who accumulated 27 disposals and 6 marks in a very solid performance down back.

Also impressing in the VFL, Cooper Sharman snagged three goals after bagging four the week before whilst Irish defender Darragh Joyce was prolific with 24 touches, 11 rebound 50s and 10 marks.

With one of the hardest fixtures ahead, coach Brett Ratten appears to have a plethora of selection options in-store.

After falling to back-to-back losses for the first time this season, some selection changes would seemingly do more good than harm.

Ratten's side is currently clinging on to their top eight spot on percentage only after a terrific 5-1 start to the season.
