West Coast forward Malakai Champion is free to play after the WAFL Tribunal excused him of an alleged nose-blowing incident.

Champion was referred directly to the Tribunal following a report from a Swan Districts player in Round 10.

The young Eagle was initially charged on "serious misconduct" in his side's seven-point win due to allegedly blowing his nose on an opponent in the second term, deemed a "bushman's blow".

However, he was found not guilty due to inconclusive evidence.

“WA Football advises that West Coast Eagles player Malakai Champion has been found not guilty of serious misconduct following an incident in the Round 10 Sullivan Logistics WAFL match against Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday, June 13,” WA Football said in a statement.

“The incident occurred during the second quarter of the match with Champion sent to the WAFL Tribunal, which was held on Tuesday evening.

“The WAFL Tribunal found the evidence against Champion was inconclusive.”

Champion has played 10 games for West Coast after joining the club via the Next Generation Academy (NGA) in 2024.
