St Kilda and West Coast will release some fresh faces onto AFL fields this weekend, with both clubs set to debut new players.

The Saints will play Ed Phillips for the first time in his career, after the number 56 pick in the 2016 draft put his hand up for selection with fine VFL form.

Phillips is the brother of Collingwood defender Tom, and will become the 1592nd player to wear St Kilda colours.

โ€œI reckon thereโ€™d be a strong case to argue that this blokeโ€™s probably our most in-form player,โ€ Richardson told the playing group on Thursday.

โ€œYouโ€™ve embraced whateverโ€™s been asked of you. Youโ€™ve become someone that the leaders now trust and theyโ€™re really looking forward to playing with you.โ€

Over in the west, the Eagles will hand a club debut to former Port Adelaide midfielder Brendon Ah Chee, while Brayden Ainsworth will step onto an AFL field for the first time in his career.

Ainsworth was selected with the 32nd pick in the 2017 draft, while the Eagles traded their third round pick in 2017 for Ah Chee.
