As many as six AFL clubs are said to be monitoring contracted Gold Coast ruckman Ned Moyle this year.

Moyle, who is yet to play a game for the Suns since joining them through the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, is seen as the club's second-string ruck option behind co-captain Jarrod Witts.

The Kew Rovers product has impressed at VFL level across the past two years, playing 23 games for the Suns since the start of last season.

The 21-year-old has started 2023 off on the right foot, averaging 35.5 hit-outs, 15.5 disposals, 6.0 marks and 5.5 clearances from his first two appearances in the VFL, notching up wins against Williamstown and Geelong.

His state-league form and position behind Witts have reportedly piqued the interest of rivals clubs, according to AFL.com.au, with more than half a dozen sides looking to pry the developing tall away from Carrara.

Ruckmen have been a key asset for clubs on the open market across the past two seasons, with the 2021 trade period seeing as many as six rucks swap clubs before a further four found new homes last year.

Moyle's own draft class midway through 2021 revealed the demand for ruck depth, with seven ruckmen selected from the 22 picks.

Clubs like Geelong, Collingwood, West Coast and St Kilda would be in the market for ruckmen this year, with the Magpies themselves entering Round 4 without a recognised ruck option to face Brisbane.

Moyle, who is contracted with the Suns until the end of next season, played six games for Collingwood's VFL side during the 2021 season before making the move to Queensland.

His next appearance for the Suns' reserves will come on Sunday when Gold Coast make the trip down to Moorabbin to face Sandringham.
