Richmond is smashing membership records, with just under 80,000 members already signed up for the 2018 season.

Their 2017 grand final opponent, Adelaide, have the second-most members with 72,096 (as of January). Third is Essendon with 60,389, fourth is Hawthorn with 60,100, while Sydney round out the top five with 50,711.

The two newest expansion clubs have the least members - Gold Coast is trailing the AFL with 7,917, while GWS have over double that with 16,432. Brisbane have the third least members, with 17,114.

The Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne have the least members of Victorian clubs, with neither topping the 32,000 mark as of January 2018.

Last year, Collingwood led the AFL with club memberships with 75,879, Hawthorn ranked second with 75,663 and Richmond ranked third with 72,669.
