Sydney forward Tom Papley is set for a stint on the sidelines with a calf injury.

Papley has played every game for a rampant Sydney so far this year, but is set to miss the next six weeks. 

He has averaged 15 disposals and kicked 14 goals through 11 games.

Fellow Swans small forward Malcolm Rosas Jnr is also out of the side for one or two weeks after spraining his ankle.

Meanwhile at Brisbane, Jarrod Berry and Noah Answerth are a chance to return to the AFL line-up this week.

At Richmond, Sam Banks is available having recovered from his collarbone break in some relief for the club besieged by injury.

Veteran Dion Prestia is a test to return from a calf, while winger Hugo Ralphsmith is a chance to return ahead of schedule this week.

Carlton key defender Jacob Weitering (calf) is a test to return for his side's clash with Geelong at the MCG on Friday night.

St Kilda's Dougal Howard is out for the Saints' match against Hawthorn on Thursday after injuring his calf last round against Fremantle. Howard's recovery time is not yet known.

In more positive news for Saints fans, forward Mitch Owens (calf), star Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera (calf) and forward Liam Ryan (calf) are all only one week away from returning. Small forward Dan Butler (hamstring) is a test.

Ladder-leader Fremantle could receive an influx of returning players with captain Alex Pearce (knee), Sean Darcy (calf) and Hayden Young (concussion) all listed as tests. While Caleb Serong (calf) is one week away from returning.

GWS key defender Sam Taylor is a chance to play his first game of the season after being listed as a test. Taylor hurt his hamstring playing for Western Australia during the State of Origin clash in February and hasn't played a game since.

Flying half-back Lachie Whitfield (hamstring) is also likely to return.

Key forward Jesse Hogan is one or two weeks away with his hip injury.

Essendon has added five injuries to its list after the Bombers' loss to Richmond.

Archer May (abdominal) and Jye Caldwell (ankle) are listed as tests. Sam Durham (concussion) and Jordan Ridley (calf) are both one week away, while Matt Guelfi (hamstring) will spend up to a month on the sidelines.

Captain Andrew McGrath is listed as TBC after breaking his jaw against the Tigers.

Collingwood's Jamie Elliott has had his ACL diagnosis confirmed and will miss the rest of the season.

Small forward Will Hayes will miss five or six weeks with a shoulder injury, while skipper Darcy Moore (hamstring) has been listed as TBC.
