Richmond champion Dustin Martin has released a statement as a suppression order was lifted, revealing Ralph Carr, his well-known manager, as the well-connected man found guilty of raping a former employee.
Martin ended his relationship with Carr once the news was made public, releasing the following statement:
“I was shocked to learn of the outcome of the court proceedings,” Martin said, who is represented by TGI Sports now.
“I had no knowledge whatsoever of the conduct that led to these convictions. My thoughts are with those affected.
“Effective immediately, I have ended my professional relationship with my former manager.
“As this is a legal matter, I will not be making any further comment.”
The assault occurred in 2023. Carr had his bail revoked and has been taken into custody. He faced two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in the County Court of Victoria, and pleaded not guilty.
The jury found beyond reasonable doubt the AFL player manager was guilty last week, and had been protected by a suppression order since 2023, preventing his name from being publicly declared.
Carr played a massive role in keeping Martin at Punt Road amid a godfather offer from North Melbourne in 2017.
The pair shared a close relationship, and have gone on to do multiple real estate deals together.
Carr also represented former Tigers Daniel Rioli and Shai Bolton.
