Herald Sun journalist Jay Clark is at it again, this time reporting that Collingwood have a senior AFL coach on their radar if they decide not to renew Nathan Buckley's contract at the end of the season.

Following Collingwood's loss to Essendon on Saturday, the Pies moved to a 5-10 record this season, and will find themselves in the bottom four at the end of round 16.

Buckley's future has been the topic of conversation all season long, with many media personalities believe the Pies and Buckley will part ways at season's end.

Should this be the case, Clark knows of at least one name who will be on Collingwood's interview sheet.

"We mentioned a few of the coaches who potentially might be on Collingwood's radar for next season," Clarky said on Triple M's The Sunday Rub.

"Brad Scott, I understand, is a person of significant interest.

"As I understand it, Brad Scott always thought 10 years at one club might be sort of enough. He's approaching that time at the moment.

"He's known to Collingwood, (he) worked there as an assistant coach."

Former North Melbourne champion Wayne Carey understood Collingwood's interest in Scott, but suggested he couldn't see it happened, and said Scott would rather finish his work at the Roos first.

"He talks about the fact that we wants to follow through with rebuilding the Kangaroos," Carey said.

"I reckon he's got a bit to work with, and I reckon he wants to see that through."
