St Kilda has shown interest in Harley Bennell and will look to put him through a medical as early as today.

Triple M's Tom Browne revealed on The Hot Breakfast this morning saying that a Bennell will find a new home in 2020, with the Saints joining several other suitors.

"So it looks like at this stage Harley Bennell will find a new home in some form on a rookie list or a list next year.

"He (Bennell) is only 27, the theory is if you get him right he’s one of the best Indigenous talents in the game.

"There’s a lot of interest in him at the moment, I mentioned Geelong last week, also the Swans, Melbourne have emerged as a suitor… I can also tell you that St Kilda is keen to meet with him today and will basically sort of join with Melbourne in the costs of bringing him over and they’re keen to do a medical on him today as well," Browne said.

The 27 year-old played for the Gold Coast Suns for five years before a switch to Fremantle saw him only play only two games in four years for his new club.

The talented midfielder has battled ongoing calf injuries alongside mild off-field digressions, but now looks highly likely now to be picked up by his third club.

Marc McGowan of AFL.com has revealed that Bennell successfully had surgery on his troublesome calf as he was operated on by renowned Geelong-based physiotherapist Peter Stanton.

Stanton has previously worked with Cats star Tom Hawkins to overcome his back issues.

It was revealed the primary cause of Bennell's calf issues were due to a nerve problem as a scarred muscle was removed to remedy the area.

If the Saints are able to secure Bennell, he would add to an off-season which has already delivered Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard, Zak Jones, Dan Butler and Brad Hill.
