Tasmania's entrance to the competition makes the 2027 out-of-contract list an interesting market.

As part of an array of list concessions, the Devils have the capacity to sign up to 18 out-of-contract players - one per club - across 2027 and 2028.

Concurrently, plenty of other clubs will be trying to lure the big names as the annual list build rigmarole takes place.

The first priority for the Hawthorn star will be to get a full year under his belt. Does that encourage him to park contract talks to try to maximise his value, therefore opening the door for proactive clubs? He has played seven of the past eight games and been a difference-maker in the Hawks midfield, elevating them into premiership contention. The likely outcome is him repaying the Hawks' faith after a frustrating period, particularly given they are contending.
