Tasmania's entrance to the competition makes the 2027 out-of-contract list an interesting market.
As part of an array of list concessions, the Devils have the capacity to sign up to 18 out-of-contract players - one per club - across 2027 and 2028.
Concurrently, plenty of other clubs will be trying to lure the big names as the annual list build rigmarole takes place.

The media circus around the superstar St Kilda player last year was arguably as heightened as any player has had to deal with before re-committing for two years. The positive for St Kilda is that he found his best footy and established himself as a star of the competition during that time, so the talk does not seem to affect his footy. The talk at the time was that the Saints had these two years to prove to Wanganeen-Milera it was the place for him long term. Languishing in the Wildcard Round position this year at best, the Saints will need to take a step forward next year as interest from South Australia and other clubs looms large.
