The AFL have announced the next block of fixturing that negotiates the bye periods, along with the return of Thursday night football in Round 13.

There will be three Thursday night matches held across the bye rounds, all held at the MCG, while another Friday double-header has been scheduled due to a clash with the NRL State of Origin.

In Round 12, the Western Bulldogs will host Geelong at Marvel Stadium, before the Dees host Sydney at the MCG on Saturday night in a game that looks to shape the top four.

In Round 13, Richmond will host Port Adelaide at the MCG on Thursday, June 9, before Essendon celebrates its 150th anniversary against rival Carlton the night afterwards at the same ground.

Brisbane will host St Kilda at the Gabba on that Saturday night, before the annual Big Freeze match is played on Monday, June 13 between Collingwood and Melbourne at the MCG.

Richmond and Carlton will play their second Thursday match of the season in Round 14, while arch-rivals GWS and Bulldogs face off at Marvel Stadium that Saturday night.

Melbourne's prime-time run continues in Round 15 when they host the Lions on Thursday night, before June 24 sees two Friday night games held, as the Dogs and Hawks, then the Eagles and Bombers, face off respectively.

The Swans and Saints match up at the SCG in the Saturday night fixture.
