Carlton ruckman Marc Pittonet believes young stars Jagga Smith and Harry Dean are two of the main figures driving the Blues forward. And it is hard to argue with him.
The Baggers continued their unbelievable turnaround in form and run on Saturday night when they defeated Melbourne in front of 91,000 people at the MCG in the second Wildcard Final.
While veterans Sam Walsh (39 disposals) and Jacob Weitering (12 marks, 10 intercepts) were instrumental, their understudies Smith (29 disposals, two goals) and Dean (seven marks, 11 intercepts) were equally impactful in the biggest game of their fledgeling careers.
Pittonet spoke to SEN's AFL Nation after the match and emphasised how incredible Smith (20 years old) and Dean (18 years old) truly are.
"It's hard to explain because I like to think I'm pretty competitive, but they are on another level," Pittonet said on the SEN broadcast.
"We see the celebrations of Harry Dean celebrating with the crowd for a spoil. There's competitive and then there's those two and they just love football, they love competing, and they love playing for Carlton to be honest.
"They are just feeding off every contest and they don't want to lose anything. To be honest, they are actually bringing along the older blokes because it is contagious what they are bringing. They are adding so much to our growth."
