Nick Daicos has officially nominated to go to Collingwood as a father-son selection in the 2021 National Draft.

The Pies who finished 17th will be without the number 2 pick after they traded their 2021 first-round pick with GWS last year.

Son of Collingwood great Peter Daicos, Nick will join his talented brother Josh at the Pies in 2021 with the son-of-a-gun expected to be picked up very early on draft night.

The Oakleigh Chargers product has dominated the NAB League this season and looks a every chance to be drafted with the first pick of the night by North Melbourne.

This would mean Collingwood would need to pool together multiple picks in order to secure Daicos.

The youngster said that he was thrilled to choose the club his family has represented so well.

“Collingwood is my family’s football home and I’m thrilled to be coming,” Daicos said.

“I like the sense of tradition but it is also my start, the chance to write my own chapter in the black and white.

“I know quite a few of the boys and it’s also exciting to know that I will be joining a wider group of younger players who I can share my start with. It will be great to build something together.”

Collingwood GM of Football, Graham Wright, said the decision was one that would fill fans with plenty of excitement for the years ahead.

“It’s pleasing for our members, fans, and Nick’s future teammates that he has committed to nominating us under the father-son rule in October, and our commitment is to match any bid for him in the national draft come November,” Wright said.

“Nick’s a highly talented midfielder – he has outstanding skills, hits the scoreboard and works hard at his game.

“Like all young players, he has work to do but he is certainly talented and committed to his craft and his club, which is something our fans and his team-mates will appreciate. He will slot in nicely with our young group.

“We are confident Nick will receive a first-rate football education at Collingwood and have a long and distinguished career. We look forward to officially welcoming him later this year.”
