Contracted Fremantle ruckman Sean Darcy has been linked with a move to Richmond as he struggles to cement his spot in the senior side.
Darcy is currently playing in the WAFL for Peel Thunder, with Luke Jackson and Mason Cox leapfrogging him in the ruck pecking order under Justin Longmuir.
The Victorian is locked away until 2030 on a big contract signed at the end of 2023, but has played 36 games since then, with injuries and form plaguing his availability.
Speaking on The Outer Wing, hosted by Mark Stevens and Digby Beacham, presented by TAB Touch, the journalism duo discussed the prospect of Darcy joining the Tigers, and how it could benefit the Dockers.
"My mail is with Sean Darcy; he could be headed to Tigerland," Stevens said.
"He's going to have some currency in the trade market."
"My oath he is," Beacham responded.
"Is he going to be able to produce another 140, 150 games of good football? Maybe. He needs to be a far more streamlined version of perhaps what he is at the moment and what we've seen previously.
"He does have some currency. He comes with a big salary. He's on big money here at Fremantle on a contract which has another four years on it but Fremantle, where they're likely to finish this year, they need to find a way back into the draft early on, maybe shipping out Sean Darcy, because you have got Mason Cox for 2027, Luke Jackson is your number one ruckman, there's no question there, maybe just maybe, you can move on Sean Darcy.
"They won't entertain that conversation at the moment because they're trying to win a historic first flag, but certainly he's got some currency, and that's what Fremantle needs before they head to the draft.
"Late first-rounder, early second-rounder, and maybe some exchange of picks and players. I don't think he'll command a top-10, top-15 pick, because at the moment, he's not playing in the number one side."
Richmond missed out on GWS tall Nick Madden, who signed a four-year extension last month. They have turned their attention to Madden's teammate Kieren Briggs, offering a four-year deal to lure him to Punt Road.
The Tigers are planning for life after premiership ruck Toby Nankervis, who has a contract for next year.
