Collingwood youngster Darcy Moore is in no rush to put pen to paper on a new deal, according to his manager Liam Pickering.

Pickering reiterated Moore's number one focus is to return to full fitness before commencing contract talks with the club.

"I assume he does," Pickering told SEN Breakfast, when asked whether Moore's intentions were to stay at Collingwood.

“We haven’t got that far down the track. He said, let me get myself to the point where I can start playing.

“His priority is to play. I think he is right to go for the JLT. It’ll take care of itself.

“We have had a couple of chats, but there is no great rush on this one.”

After kicking 58 goals in three seasons up forward, Moore is set for a move down to the back half in 2018, although is still recovering from a nagging achilles injury that has plagued his preseason.

Collingwood football boss Geoff Walsh told SEN last week that Moore if "very committed" to the club, before adding he believes it's a matter of when, not if, the father-son star will re-sign in the black and white.

“Ned Guy has started talks with Liam Pickering, so we have started there and from our point of view, he is a player who is a strong part of our future and we want to do something there as quick as we can,” he said.

“I don’t anticipate any problems.”
