Melbourne has re-signed 19-year-old Category B Rookie Kyah Farris-White for another year in promising signs for their ruck stocks.
Following an impressive first season at the club, where he has featured at VFL level, Farris-White's signature is a welcome boost.
After joining the Demons as a rookie selection last year, Farris-White has made an impact this year both for Casey Demons in the VFL, where he has played seven matches, while also representing the Dandenong Stingrays in the Coates Talent League.
As a long-term project player in a position that generally requires plenty of time to develop, Farris-White will be given at least one more year to continue his AFL dream. Under the tutelage of star Max Gawn, he will at least be learning from the best.
At a time when secondary ruckman Brodie Grundy is in high demand, the Demons' announcement highlights their intent to shore up their ruck stocks.
List Manager Tim Lamb, speaking to the club's website, was delighted with the news, praising the way Farris-White has gone about his first season for the Demons.
“Kyah has had a fantastic first season coming to us from an elite junior basketball background... He has an enormous work ethic and is continually striving to improve in all facets of his game." he said.

Following the signatures of Taj Woewodin and Josh Schache recently, the news is a further boost to Melbourne ahead of their crunch Qualifying Final against Collingwood next Thursday night at the MCG.
