Richmond star Dustin Martin is reportedly set to make a call regarding his future before the finals series.

Martin has continuously stated he would wait until season's end before deciding on his future, although his manager Ralph Carr told Fairfax Media on Tuesday night they would talk about his contract during the pre-finals bye.

It was reported last week that Richmond's offer to Martin has been increased, with Fairfax Media suggesting the Tigers have now placed a six-year deal worth $1.2 million per season.

"It's in Dustin's court. I am sure at the right time he will say to me: 'Right, we are ready, let's review it'. But he always said at the end of the season. I dare say that's at the end of the home-and-away season, I would think," Carr told Fairfax Media.

"Nothing has changed. As I said last time, Dustin said he would deal with it at the end of the year. I am really just honouring his request. At the moment we are doing just what we should be doing as a manager, that is seeing it through as per Dustin's request."

With the Tigers likely preparing for another finals campaign, Richmond would be confident a deep run in September would likely further their chances of retaining this year's Brownlow Medal favourite.

Martin has spent his entire eight-season career at Richmond since making his debut in 2010, but is yet to win a final with the club.

It's the next logical step for Martin and the club to make, but Carr says that shouldn't have a real bearing on Martin's decision.

"You would like to do well in the finals but I am just thrilled for Richmond โ€“ย it's great to be in the top four. The Tigers' supporters have been waiting for this for a long time," Carr said.
