Premiership coach John Longmire has spoken about his future on Wednesday night as he weighs up a return to his old role with multiple clubs chasing him.
Tasmania, Essendon and Carlton are currently on the hunt for a senior coach, with the former two interested in Longmire's services.
During his usual segment on Fox Footy's AFL 360 with fellow premiership coach Adam Simpson, Longmire, who currently is serving as executive director of club performance at Sydney, was asked how it felt to be back in the media spotlight about potential coaching roles.
"I don't use my energy to focus on the public chatter too much," Longmire said on AFL 360.
"I don't think that's energy well spent.
"I've got a few things to consider, but one of the most important things for me is also my job at the moment that I have got to do really well and I am doing that.
"I said a few weeks ago that these things seem to play out over time and that's what it tends to do. I'm not one to comment and get public commentary on that. I just let it play out."
Longmire coached Sydney from 2011-2024, taking the Swans to five grand finals in 2012 (won against Hawthorn), 2014 (lost to Hawthorn), 2016 (lost to Western Bulldogs), 2022 (lost to Geelong) and 2024 (lost to Brisbane).
The 55-year-old was twice AFL Coaches Association Coach of the Year (2012 and 2014).
Former Carlton coach Michael Voss also featured on the same episode of AFL 360.
He spoke about whether he thought interim Blues coach, and his replacement after being sacked mid-year, Josh Fraser would put himself forward for the senior coaching role at Carlton after going 7-0 since taking over.
"What I do know is with senior coaching is you don't want to be walked into this, this is something you have got to want to do," Voss said.
"Where the club priority is at right now is it's about the team.
"I'm sure Josh and the club are really conscious of that.
"But if I had my chips in on something, I would say that the candidates that are there right now will probably be explored and once that has got down to the final two or three, that might be the time when Josh enters the race. It will be more at the back end, it certainly won't be at the front end."
