Adelaide Footy League (AdFL) club Smithfield has made a public statement after a video emerged of two players fighting during Saturday's reserves game.
During the club's 90-point loss to Flinders University in Division 7, two Smithfield players engaged in a physical altercation. It isn't known what caused the fight between the two Panthers players.
As a result of the incident, the local club has forfeited its next game, putting its finals hopes in jeopardy.
“We are aware of a video currently circulating on social media … the behaviour shown in this video is not acceptable and does not represent the values and standards of our club,” a Smithfield statement read.
“This matter has been dealt with internally, and swift action has been taken regarding both parties involved.
“Violence - on or off the field - is never acceptable and will not be tolerated.

“Our club is committed to providing a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for our players, members, volunteers, supporters and the wider community.”
Smithfield sits just outside the top five on percentage and has the chance to make finals in the reserves. But the decision to forfeit this weekend against West Croydon makes its path to finals considerably more difficult, with only one game remaining after this weekend.
The AdFL will be seeking more information regarding the incident.
“We are aware of a series of incidents from Smithfield's last B Grade match,” AdFL chief John Kernahan said.
“They were given the option to go on and play or self-assess as to whether the risk of a repeat was worth it given the time of year.
“The umpires have submitted their understanding of what dynamic they were being asked to officiate in.
“We're asking both clubs for details to be tabled, and both will be expected to be transparent.”
