Carlton fringe player Ollie Hollands has met with North Melbourne, who are looking for more outside run after missing out on St Kilda's Darcy Wilson.
Hollands comes out of contract at season's end and has struggled to play consistent senior football under caretaker coach Josh Fraser.
Fraser recently threw his hat in the ring for the vacant coaching job after a successful interim period, winning 10 out of 12 games.
Under the Blues caretaker, Hollands has played three senior games and has failed to make a meaningful impact.
The Blues have a litany of tough contract calls including Hollands, according to the Agenda Setters, as well as veterans Zac Williams and Adam Saad.
The Kangaroos are always on the hunt for established talent after multiple years hitting the draft with top-end picks.
Hollands would add to the bevy of emerging youth at Arden Street, whilst also providing some outside run, which Alastair Clarkson has needed during his tenure.

North Melbourne is also in the market for a key defender, and is attempting to lure Adelaide defenders James Borlase or Nick Murray. They also held interest in Jordon Butts, who looks poised to join the Western Bulldogs.
Murray is contracted at the Crows until 2028, but through injury and form, hasn't cemented his spot under Matthew Nicks.
Borlase is out of contract, and wouldn't cost the Kangaroos much in trade capital if he opts to make a switch across the border.
North Melbourne has also been linked to Carlton vice-captain Jacob Weitering, who has missed the past two months with a complex calf injury.
