The Brisbane Lions have been dealt an unfortunate blow as star forward Joe Daniher is set to face up to six weeks on the sidelines due to a short tissue injury in his shoulder.

The power forward was seen getting his shoulder strapped late in the second quarter against the Swans and returned to play briefly before quickly being pulled from the ground and subbed out during Sunday's victory.

Danny Daly, Brisbane's football boss, revealed that Daniher has avoided surgery, but will miss at least a month of action.

“The outcome today is a fairly good one with Joe not requiring surgery on the shoulder and we can just focus on rehabilitating and getting strength back into it.

“While it is disappointing for Joe to miss a few games after stringing together so many consecutively, we’re confident we have the forward line depth to cover it whilst he focuses on getting back on the park.”

The injury sustained by Daniher can be defined as "a partial or incomplete dislocation that usually stems from changes in the mechanical integrity of the joint", according to physiopedia.

Since crossing to Brisbane in 2021, Joe has booted 65 goals and will prove a crucial commodity come time for September.

Chris Fagan's pride is scheduled to face West Coast, Adelaide, Hawthorn, GWS, Fremantle and St Kilda before the bye.
