The Gold Coast Suns have made some significant changes to their Board of Directors with some notable names included.

Former player Kurt Tippett will join the board after beginning a career in property and business development in the Gold Coast region.

After being drafted in 2008, Tippett played 178 games for the Crows and the Swans. He would go on to become one of the league's most dominant forwards, even becoming a two-time club leading goals corer.

The former Crow retired after battling persistent hamstring, hip and ankle injuries in his final two seasons.

He will now turn his focus towards helping the Gold Coast Suns become a competitive football club, having not made a singular finals appearance in 12 years.

Gold Coast SUNS Chairman Bob East said the club was looking forward to welcoming Tippett and his experience.

“I'd like to officially welcome Jess Mellor, Kurt Tippett and Mark Witheriff to the Gold Coast SUNS,” East said.

"Kurt's property, business and football experience will be of great benefit and Mark's business acumen, understanding of the Gold Coast and strong network will add great value to our Board.”

Tippett will be joined by Jess Mellor who is the current Chief Operating Officer for The Star Entertainment Group Gold Coast and Mark Witheriff, who is the current Managing Director of the CBRE's Gold Coast office.

The club will farewell three valuable members including Leschen Smaller who joined the Board in 2016 and chaired the Finance and Audit sub-committee, Sam Riley, who also served as a Board member for seven years and was a member of the Consumer and Community sub-committee. Also, Rob Charter, who gave two years of service to the commercial sub-committee.

“On behalf of everyone involved with the Gold Coast SUNS, I would like to thank Leschen, Sam and Rob for their contributions as members of the Board,” said East.

“Their commitment to the club and their extensive knowledge and experience has guided our club well, and we are indebted for their service.”
