AFL media personality Kane Cornes will tattoo his left butt cheek if Hawthorn gun Nick Watson wins the Coleman Medal.

A tattoo bet is nothing new, especially within the sporting world.

But Cornes, who is prone to big calls, has backed the 'Wizard' to continue his incredible season. Watson has kicked 44 goals, and is six behind Charlie Curnow (leader).

“I am putting Charlie Curnow, Ben King, Logan Morris, Josh Treacy, Jye Amiss, Aaron Naughton and Jeremy Cameron in the gun,” Cornes said on SEN.

“If Nick Watson wins the Coleman Medal, this will be the greatest individual achievement this century. He would be the second smallest.

“Since 2000, in an individual season, by one player, this would be the greatest achievement.

“Dustin Martin is in the conversation for the 2017 season when he won everything, but put this in perspective, Watson would be the smallest Coleman medal winner since 1933.

“These big fellas cannot let Watson - who is listed at 1.70m, but I think he's closer to 1.66m - win the Coleman. They are all in the gun. A small man doesn't win the Coleman; it just does not happen.

“I hope it happens; I'm going to get a Watson Wizard tattoo on my left butt cheek if it does happen. What is going on? This would be extraordinary.”

If Watson was anointed as the 2026 Coleman Medal winner, he'd be the shortest player since former Melbourne and Carlton player Vin Gardiner won the award in 1911 at 167cm.

“The Coleman was never on my mind, early days,” the Hawk said to the Herald Sun last week.

“As I've slowly crept up the ladder, I've started thinking ‘oh, this is (real)', but then Gunners (Jack Gunston) will keep me level-headed – he was filthy that he missed a couple of games where he could have snagged a couple of goals.

“I've never looked too deep into it. I'm just enjoying playing footy. Coleman would be good at the end of the day and I'm sure everyone would love that, but I'm not sure,” he said.

“I think I'm too far behind now after missing (the last two weeks), and Gunners is back and I don't think he'll want me winning, either.”
