Melbourne has added former Essendon forward Mitch Brown to their 2020 playing squad, signing him to a one-year rookie contract.

Brown will join the Demons during the AFL's Supplemental Selection Period (SSP) after he started training with the club on Tuesday.

“We are pleased to officially welcome Mitch to Melbourne through the SSP and have him join us as a rookie for this season,” Melbourne's General Manager of Football Operations Josh Mahoney told Melbourne Media.

“Mitch has shown great resilience throughout his career, and is a skilful, versatile player who has proven he is capable of having an impact at AFL level.

“We feel his experience at both ends of the ground and his elite endurance will make him a great addition to our list.

“We are confident Mitch will transition smoothly into our football program.”

Brown has played 70 games over the course of his career with Geelong and Essendon, featuring in 16 games for the Bombers in 2019.
