Port Adelaide superstar and Brownlow Medal fancy Zak Butters could be in trouble with the match review officer after his high and late bump on Western Bulldogs player Joel Freijah.

The incident occurred in the fourth term and could see the Power skipper suspended. It will assist Butters' case that Freijah played out the rest of the game.

After a second straight last-minute loss, Port Adelaide coach Josh Carr was ruthless in his early assessment of his players' Friday night performance against the Western Bulldogs.

Playing at home, the Power left a final quarter charge too late against the Dogs, who crawled over the line for a two-point victory.

"Tonight we were horrible," Carr said in the post-game press conference. "The first half, especially, trying to be too cute with the footy, the conditions were obviously slippery.

"We had opportunities to go inside forward 50 and put them under pressure, and we didn't. We searched for the handball at different times when we didn't need to. Just a really bad night.

"We didn't start the game well; we left it up to only a couple of players in the game. I felt like there were several passengers."

Star key forward Mitch Georgiades continued his imposing, but wayward, form inside 50. Booting 4.4, after kicking 3.3 and 4.6 in his previous two games.

Despite the threat Georgiades poses, Carr did concede his side needs more firepower inside their forward 50 to assist their hulking key tall.

"It is what it is right now," he said. "(Georgiades) is a target, we go inside 50, he is there, and we use him.

"We are seeing (Jack) Whitlock develop, we are seeing that. He didn't have a great night tonight, but that's okay. He is working himself through it.

"Then the support around Mitch, beside 'Whitters' (Jason Horne-Francis), goes forward... but does he need more help? Yeah, he does, but I think we are getting there and finding some growth in individuals there to support him, but it will take time.

"(Georgiades) works so hard on his game and on his goal kicking. He continues to front up and be there for us. We have spoken about his growth in leadership this year, and he has been enormous. He keeps getting himself shots at goal, yeah, would love him to kick a bag, and it will come for him, I know it will."

Midfielder Miles Bergman didn't finish the game after injuring his toe during the match.
