Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield has suffered a preseason injury setback.

The Brownlow Medalist sustained a sore adductor that has kept him out of training this week.

But the Cats told 7NEWS they are confident the injury won't prevent him from missing the start of the season.

“Geelong say it’s slowing up Dangerfield’s preseason but they don’t seem worried about the season proper,” 7NEWS reporter Tom Browne said.

Dangerfield played 21 games and kicked 17 goals in 2020.

According to 7NEWS, Dangerfield played with a groin injury in the Grand Final, yet it is unknown whether the new setback is a reoccurrence of an old injury.
