An abdominal injury has seen GWS gun Brent Daniels subbed out of Saturday's clash with Brisbane in the opening half.

Daniels was dealing with the ailment in the first term but came back onto the ground after undergoing assessment by club medicos.

He was again placed on the sidelines and was eventually ruled out of returning to the game midway through the second term, with the Giants opting to make their sub change.

Young forward Josaia Delana was brought into the match in place of Daniels, who had recorded one goal assist from his three disposals.

Daniels returned to Adam Kingsley's side last week for the first time since Round 4, having dealt with an abdominal injury for the past eight matches.

The rare injury led to a long period out of action for the 26-year-old, who could again be sidelined if he has suffered the same concern.

The Giants are already without Stephen Coniglio (glute), Callan Ward (knee), Kieren Briggs (ankle) and Jake Stringer (hamstring), among others, due to injury.

The Lions made their sub change in the first term after Jack Payne hurt his knee in a marking contest.
