If we could bring back 5 player from...Colligwood
This week, weโre bringing back five players from Hawthorn's past as a gift to their footy-starved fans.
Weโre not necessarily picking the five best players of years past, but rather those stars still in the memory of Hawks fans and most likely to deliver some much needed excitement. Or for a variety of other reasons, like players with unfinished business, that fill team needs or would offer good marketing revenue during these tough times.
Any returning player comes back at the peak of their powers, which is just as well, because sentimentality aside, we're pretty sure Clarko would have no qualms about dragging these club legends if they came back out-of-shape and middle-aged...
1. Cyril Rioli
Who?
It's fair to say not a game goes by where Hawks fans don't miss this four-time premiership superstar. Excitement wouldn't be a problem if Cyril returned to the brown-and-gold - except perhaps over-excitement on the part of certain fans and media figures. As long as someone ties Bruce down, we think it'll be worth the risk.
And forget the time machine - the thirty-year-old would be ready to go right now.
