Hawthorn great Jordan Lewis has revealed the top five players he played on during his careeer.

The tough midfielder hung up the boots at the end of last season after 319 games for Hawthorn and Melbourne, including three premierships, an All Australian and best and fairest.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Lewis explained that his criteria wasn't just players he'd come up against but those he'd actually matched up on.

“I’ve looked back to when I first started because I found it really hard to play against these players,” he said.

“Early on in my career I played a bit of a run-with role so these players I just found hard to play on. It’s not necessarily the best players who played the game when I was playing but the hardest guys I felt I could never match up on.”

In no particular order, here is Lewis' top five players he played on...
