Hawthorn forward Jacob Koschitzke has reportedly informed the Hawks of his intentions to become a Richmond player this off-season.

Koschitzke, who remains unsigned for the 2024 season, struggled to cement his place under Sam Mitchell this year, playing just 12 games at AFL level.

Those dozen appearances added to his 36 prior matches that came since his debut in 2021, with the Albury product managing nine goals for 2023 - having gone goalless in half of his games this year.

According to The Age, Koschitzke has requested a trade to Punt Road ahead of next month's trade period despite being offered a contract to remain in the brown and gold.

The publication reports that the 23-year-old told Mitchell of his desire to land at Punt Road after struggling for opportunities this season.

The Tigers' interest in Koschitzke would come after parting with triple premiership spearhead Jack Riewoldt following the veteran's decision to retire.

Richmond were without first-string forward Tom Lynch for a majority of this year due to a foot injury, leaving the Tigers with little support in attack.

Riewoldt would lead the Tigers' goalkicking in 2023 with 32 goals, with the club's next best tall target being Samson Ryan, who kicked 12 majors from 14 games.

The Tigers also decided to delist firing forward Kaelan Bradtke after his first and only season with Richmond.

Koschitzke's request comes as Hawks small forward Tyler Brockman also seeks a move away from the club, reportedly eyeing a trade back home to Western Australia.

The 2023 trade period will open on Monday, October 9, with Richmond currently holding picks 25, 44, 62 and 80 for this year's draft.
