Jack Ginnivan's name always manages to come up in conversation, but usually for his questionable and peculiar antics.
His goal celebrations, game tactics and social media presence take the front seat.
But rarely, and only rarely, is his footballing ability spoken about.
His controversial drawing of high free kicks overshadowed his incredible 40-goal season at Collingwood in 2022, ranking eighth for general forwards that year. He toppled Toby Greene, Cameron Zurhaar and Tom Papley.
Ginnivan's shock move from winning a premiership at Collingwood to joining boyhood club Hawthorn in the space of two months also rendered his talents useless in the eyes of the football community, given the Hollywood factor surrounding his personality dominated his presence on-field.
But his sole VFL outing for Box Hill sparked a dramatic change that has seen the 22-year-old begin to be acknowledged for just how good he is with the Sherrin.
After a lean opening five weeks to 2025, albeit in four victories and a loss, Hawks coach Sam Mitchell axed Ginnivan for the Easter Monday clash with Geelong, missing out on one of the biggest marque games on the calendar.
And as Michael Jordan did so many times, Ginnivan took it personally. He kicked four goals from 22 disposals, and was arguably best afield against the Cats. But what pleased Mitchell more was the team standards Ginnivan upheld, whilst also showing leadership to those he suited up alongside.
After that performance, it was only a matter of time, and a week later, he returned to face West Coast.
The past seven weeks have produced 13 goals, an average of 20.9 disposals, seven score involvements, 4.9 inside 50s, and 5.3 marks.
Hawthorn returned to the winners' list against the Western Bulldogs after three consecutive losses to the trio leading the competition after a tough stretch of games.
Ginnivan has been a beacon through a dark month for the brown and gold, and will be crucial in the battle with Adelaide at UTAS Stadium.
A heavyweight battle between the Hawks and the Crows will bless the Friday night lights, but as there has been for the past six weeks, there's a feeling Ginnivan will have a huge say on the result.
