The re-signings keep on coming on the Gold Coast, with injured stalwart Lachie Weller having committed to Stuart Dew's side until 2026.

Weller, who injured his ACL in Round 12, has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal which will buoy his teammates as the Suns tie down another important member of their 22.

Although the 26-year-old is expected to be out until the middle of 2023, he exclaimed his joy at being able to stay in a place that he had grown to love.

"The Gold Coast and this club is my home so I can’t wait to continue my career here for at least another four years,” Weller said to SUNS Media.

“We’ve got a fantastic group of people here, both players and staff, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else to be honest.

“You can feel we’re on the verge of history at the Suns so I’m hoping I can be a part of that in the years to come.”

Prior to his horrific injury, Weller was in the form of his life for Stuart Dew's side averaging 526.8 metres gained per match - an elite average for a man of his position - and highlighting what a huge asset he is to the way the Suns play.

Suns General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron reiterated the club's intentions to make sure Weller is nursed back to fitness and for him to continue to play a starring role in the side for years to come.

“Lachie has been playing some really good football in the last couple of seasons and has been missed since going down with his knee injury,” Cameron said to the club's website.

“He’s entering the prime of his career so we can’t wait to see him back out on the field to help us win games of football next year.”

Weller joins a plethora of recently re-signed Suns, most recently earlier on Thursday in the form of key defender Caleb Graham.

Ben King, Touk Miller, Jack Lukosius and coach Stuart Dew have all recommitted to the club over the course of 2022, with the club set for a huge off-season in terms of developing their game plan to the point where they are genuine finals candidates.

However, the saga over the future of the enigmatic Izak Rankine is set to drag on over the summer as the Crows go toe-to-toe with the Suns for his signature.
