Gold Coast would love to keep emerging key forward Jed Walter despite an uncertain future.
Walter has been the victim of a front half squeeze at the Suns, but has recently earned his spot back after a three-week hiatus.
Damien Hardwick moved to confirm the club's stance on retaining the local talent, which has also tabled a two-year deal.
"We love the kid, our fans love the kid and we've always known what this guy can be ... he probably is playing at the vast majority of other sides," Hardwick said.
"But we've been relatively successful over this short period and it does take some time to earn your place in that side and trust is earned.
"And he's working his way through that, he's become better every year and we'd love him to stay.
"We've got a number of guys in that position, so he's going to assess his options."
The Suns academy graduate has been linked with a move to multiple clubs, while sides such as West Coast, Essendon, Melbourne and Collingwood are vying for key position players as a result of the squeeze.
Ben King is the focal point of the Suns forward line, and is poised to sign a two-year extension despite heavy interest from Victorian clubs.
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been a revelation since joining the club from the Western Bulldogs, while Ethan Read's versatility and the midfield depth helps fill out the group inside 50.
Walter has played five games this year, kicking nine goals, including three in his return to the senior side last week.
