GWS forward Max Gruzewski says he is happy at the Giants, but acknowledges AFL opportunity will ultimately shape his contract decision.
Gruzewski has been the victim of a forward line squeeze, with the Giants boasting the likes of uncontracted players Toby Greene, Jesse Hogan, Jake Stringer and Jake Riccardi, as well as Aaron Cadman (contracted until 2030).
Greene is being pursued by Geelong, while Collingwood has preliminary interest in Hogan. As for Stringer, he is open to a fourth AFL club, and could assess a switch to cross-town rivals Sydney.
Gruzewski has struggled to cement his spot in the senior side, but due to injuries, has played a career-best 10 games this year, with more to come.
"Right now, I'm focused on playing good footy," Gruzewski told Zero Hanger.
"I've obviously had some injuries over the years, so trying to get back from that. Now I'm back. The contract stuff, my manager looks after that, and he'll sort of take care of it all."
Gruzewski hails from Victoria, and has interest from around the competition, but the Giants, who upped their offer from two to four years, are confident he'll remain in New South Wales.
"Still working through it all with my manager, with the club, my family and see what it all looks like," Gruzewski said.
"I've played the last three weeks so my focus was on that and getting back and playing good footy, and I'm sure the contract stuff will take care of itself.
"I love the Giants. I love the boys. I've got great relationships.
"It's no secret (there's interest from other clubs). I'm just focused on playing footy for the Giants and trying to help us get to finals and win a premiership.
"I'm really happy in Sydney. There's no real pull of home or anything like that. Clearly I've wanted to play more AFL footy and get more opportunity. So that's sort of all my decisions, and what my decision is going to come down and see where that lands at the end of the year."
Gruzewski has averaged 7.8 disposals, 3.9 marks and 1.5 goals a game this year.
The 22-year-old and the Giants will host Sydney in Saturday's Battle of the Bridge at Engie Stadium.
After last week's shock loss to Essendon, GWS finds itself in a precarious position, sitting 11th on the ladder and 2.7 per cent behind St Kilda in the final Wildcard Round spot.
A favourable run home against the Swans, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, West Coast and Adelaide will put the Giants among the racers for September action.
