Geelong are reportedly looking to extend the contract of coach Chris Scott beyond 2024 amid talks that he could be the replacement for the coaching job on the Gold Coast after Stuart Dew's sacking on Tuesday.

Scott's current contract is set to expire at the conclusion next season after signing two more years last year, with talks between Scott's management team and the club about a further extension opening, according to News Corp.

The former premiership Lion has become one of the greatest coaches in the modern era with a winning percentage of 69.37% and adding two more flags under his name, including the recent 2022 Grand final victory against the Swans.

His success in Geelong ultimately gave him the title of "Most wanted man in the game", and now Gold Coast are pushing for a coach that can lead them into their first finals appearance.

No announcement on if a deal has been reached has been made yet, with a call likely put aside for the Cats to focus on remaining in the top eight come season's end.

The Suns are expected to look for an experienced coach to replace Dew at Carrara, with former Richmond coach Damien Hardwick the leading name to fill the vacancy.
