Geelong VFL coach Mark Corrigan has given a glowing endorsement of highly rated mentor Nigel Lappin.
Speaking ahead of the Cats' VFL grand final against Box Hill on Sunday, Corrigan highlighted the impact Lappin has had on the program.
It comes after the long term he was poached by Tasmania ahead of their inaugural season in 2028.
"The program is a product of its people, and we've had an amazing mentor in that space in Nigel Lappin, who has done a huge amount of work with these guys, and it comes down to players' ability to be humble and get after the feedback provided," Corrigan told Zero Hanger.
The Brisbane premiership player has been involved at Geelong for 18 years but was one of the first coups for Tasmania's football department after the signing of coach Ken Hinkley.
The Devils are set to announce their first batch of 17-year-old signings later this month who Lappin will work closely with, and they are viewed as the cream of the crop in an unbelievably strong 2027 draft.
"He's clearly got an unbelievable footy IQ and understanding of the game and how to teach it, but he just cares about people," Corrigan added.
"He just cares about what he does; he loves getting his hands dirty and working with players. He drives the consistency and hard work, and he's incredibly humble himself.
"He champions what we want to stand for, so the boys are learning from the absolute best but also learning what it is to be a great person.
"He's been an amazing one for me to learn off."
