Star Docker Nat Fyfe was a stand-out during match simulation at Cockburn on Monday, taking a stellar one-handed mark.

Despite plans remaining open as to where on the ground Fyfe will spend his 2024 season, the dual Brownlow medallist has spent most of pre-season in the midfield.

Fyfe is looking to continue his pre-season strength and hit the home and away season at full fitness in an effort to put last two years behind him, where he struggled with injuries, only managing a total of 16 games.

Fyfe was a prominent figure at the centre bounces during Fremantle's high-intensity hitout, with reports from AFL Media claiming the veteran was impressive with his craft and stoppage work, getting the ball out of congestion to his teammates.

Teammate James Aish spoke highly about Fyfe's form during this preseason.

"Fyfey is going really well at the moment. He's moving really well and it was good to see him get up and have another good session," the winger said.

"I think he's moving really well out there and he's training at a really good level. I think he's enjoying being in the midfield, so it's good to see."

Earlier this month, head coach Justin Longmuir praised Fyfe's efforts over the summer, however, would not be drawn into where his ageing superstar would line up.

“We really want to publicly let him go about his business, not put too much expectation on him and not say he's locked down (anywhere) to play,” Longmuir said.

"We want to make sure he's in a comfortable position to be able to maximise each day and focus on getting his body and his game right."

“If he does that, we'll be able to use him wherever we need to use him.

“He's upskilling himself, mainly in the midfield at the moment, but we'd like to build in a bit of a secondary role for that, which is clearly down in forward.”

The ilk of Andrew Brayshaw and Hayden Young stood alongside Fyfe in the engine room on Monday, with the trio doing battle against Caleb Serong and the impressive Matthew Johnson.

Fyfe and the Dockers will get the ball rolling on their 2024 campaign when they face off against Brisbane on Sunday, March 17 at Optus Stadium.
