Geelong will benefit from a lack of travel in 2027 following the reveal of the AFL fixture for next season.
The Cats will spend the least amount of time in the air, with the Kardinia Park club clocking 23 hours and 55 minutes across six trips to non-Victorian rivals' homes.
Unsurprisingly, the Western Australian clubs - Fremantle and West Coast - share the gold medal for most travelled AFL sides in 2027.
The Dockers and Eagles will record 79 hours and 10 minutes in the air.
The top five clubs are all non-Victorian sides, with Gold Coast (56 hours, 45 minutes), Brisbane (55 hours and 40 minutes) and Sydney (38 hours and 40 minutes) racking up the most frequent flyer points.
Round 4 sees the most minutes spent in the air in total, with 16 teams heading to South Australia for Gather Round. Ironically, the week following, Round 5, records the least amount of time in a plane that isn't a bye round.
However, compared to the 2026 flight schedule, the Dockers would feel rightly aggrieved, with just under 10 hours added to their yearly travel plans.
Carlton and Collingwood will spend more time in the air in 2027, as will Melbourne.
But the Suns, Swans, Giants, Hawks, Port Adelaide, Kangaroos and Cats will enjoy less time spent airborne next year.
Note: Flight time relates to the scheduled time of a flight by the quickest route possible, including connections where necessary through the AFL's partner airline, Virgin Australia.
Flights were used for all interstate travel except when Sydney teams travelled to Canberra, the Lions or Suns played an away game on the Gold Coast or in Brisbane, or Melbourne teams travelled to Geelong, for example.
It was also assumed that teams would fly home after each away game, whereas sometimes they may hold a training camp if playing multiple away games in the same area back-to-back. Eg. Richmond and Essendon will remain in Perth after Round 16's Dreamtime at Maali, and North Melbourne will be in Western Australia for a fortnight in Rounds 11 and 12.
