Fremantle's defensive stalwart Alex Pearce will lead the team again this season as they look to go further in 2025.

Despite continuous murmurings of a Dockers outfit potentially being led by one of its midfield stars, the Western Australian club have once again committed to naming the 29-year-old as their sole captain for 2025. This marks the third consecutive year of Pearce fulfilling the role previously held by Nat Fyfe.

Midfield young guns Andrew Brayshaw and Caleb Serong have been widely touted as potential suitors for the skipper role, and in the wake of Pearce's reappointment, the duo will again reprise their role as co-vice-captains of the club.

Breakout key forward Josh Treacy is the only change to an otherwise settled leadership group, as the club has put faith in the 22-year-old to build upon his stellar 2024 campaign.

When speaking on the decision to elevate Treacy, Fremantle's football boss Joe Brierty stated that "Josh drives standards, leads by example and is a vocal contributor on and off the field".

"We have a host of emerging leaders and it is great to see Josh Treacy being elevated this season," Brierty said.

"He's earned the trust and respect of his teammates to lead and it's great to see him join the group."
