Former Hawthorn and North Melbourne speedster Billy Hartung is amongst the latest batch of former AFL players to have nominated for next month's Mid-Season Draft, per The Herald Sun

Hartung was delisted by the Kangaroos at the end of the 2018 season after a total of 76 games between his spells at Arden Street and with the Hawks.

Former North Melbourne duo Sam Durdin and Tom Murphy have also nominated for the June 2 Draft, which has currently accepted 476 applicants hoping for an AFL contract.

Kangaroos VFL captain and former Collingwood defender Flynn Appleby has also nominated for the draft, looking to gain a lifeline to the league and add to his 11 career games.

Appleby trained with North Melbourne in the pre-season in hope of gaining a list spot via the Supplementary Selection Period but failed to impress new Kangaroos coach David Noble.

Former Crows utility Jordan Gallucci was also in the frame for an SSP selection after joining Richmond in the pre-season, but was also on the outer come the March deadline.

Gallucci has since nominated for the Mid-Season Draft in hope of returning to the top flight, having since featured for Williamstown in the VFL.

Former Western Bulldogs forward Billy Gowers is also on the list after impressing with VFL newcomers and Gold Coast club Southport this season.

Gowers told the Real Talk with Beno podcast that rekindling his love for the game was a priority before making any move in the direction of a return to the AFL.

“I’ve definitely got half an eye on playing again at the highest level, but for me this year is about getting back to enjoying my footy and having fun with it,” he said.

“If a club was to come knocking I’d obviously seriously consider it, but it would have to be the right club and I’d have to be really keen.”

Former Hawk Jackson Ross as well as ex-Port Adelaide and St Kilda player Logan Austin have also joined the list.

Players have until May 25 to file their nomination for the Mid-Season Draft.
