Former GWS and Carlton player Dylan Buckley is set to take the field in this year's "The Carlton Draft".

Joining the likes of premiership stars Trent Cotchin, Isaac Smith and Matthew Lloyd, Buckley is keen to show off his skills and help grow the game locally.

Well-known as the host of the popular podcast 'Dyl and Friends, the former Giant believes he will be able to contribute to the club he lands at, with his dash and dare key attributes of his during his playing days.

“I may not have an AFL resume quite as impressive as Cotch, Smithy and Lloydy, but I'm confident I can still have a big impact on the footy field for whichever club drafts me," Buckley said.

“I might have to get out of the podcast chair and onto the running track a bit more over the next few weeks to make sure I'm in tip top shape, but I'll be ready to get amongst the action come matchday.”

Buckley is hoping to draw a big crowd and even get his teammates on the podcast.

“Although some of the other guys had bigger AFL careers, hopefully, I can drive a bit more foot traffic through the gates and try to get a win on the board for a club that needs it.

“I might even have to get a few of my teammates from the game on the podcast after!”

Past instalments have allowed the likes of Nathan BuckleyKane CornesDavid MundyBrendon Goddard and Eddie Betts, among others, to pull the boots back on in a bid to help give back to local clubs.

Buckley was originally drafted by Carlton in the 2011 National Draft.

Taken at Pick 62 as a father-son selection, the now 31-year-old featured in 39 games before being delisted at the end of 2017.

In a second chance, the Giants scooped up the dashing defender as a rookie.

Playing a further two games, Buckley was once again delisted at the end of 2019, featuring in a total of 41 matches.
