Jordan De Goey has reportedly had a charge for forcible touching dropped in the United States of America.

De Goey was originally charged for assault and harassment as well as forcible touching. The forcible touching charge was for an alleged incident where De Goey was accused of "grabbing a woman's private areas outside of clothing without permission."

It's understood that police will, in alleging the assault and harassment charge, that De Goey "punched with a closed fist and kicked a 37-year-old male" who had come to the woman's aid.

According to Channel Nine's Michael Genovese in the United States, prosecutors have dropped the forcible touching charge against De Goey.

The Collingwood forward and midfielder has pled not guilty to all charges ahead of facing a New York court on December 8, where he will now only defend the assault and harassment charge.

A forcible touching charge brought with it a maximum prison sentence of one year. It's understood De Goey has sought legal counsel from a top American law firm to fight the charges.

De Goey was released on bail on Sunday (AEDT) after being arrested by police. His bail conditions state he must report weekly to police and reappear in court on December 8.

The 25-year-old, who has played 118 games for Collingwood since his 2015 debut after being taken at number five in the 2014 draft, has been stood down by Collingwood for the time being.

De Goey is on contract at the Magpies until the end of 2022.
