It is hard to imagine any Carlton supporter 12 months ago thinking their side would be in the position they are in now, but the Blues are sitting pretty in fifth after 13 games.

Michael Voss' side's most recent loss against the Tigers caused them to slip out of the top four on percentage but they continue to loom as a premiership threat should they recapture their great form.

The vastly improved Blues have been reaping the rewards from the off-season acquisitions of George Hewett, Adam Cerra and Lewis Young, who have made an instant impact on the side.

They could once again be busy this off-season, with plenty of useful names still on the market and the potential for further improvement in this Carlton side will make rival fans slightly nervous.

In the next instalment of our series, we've compiled a list in, no particular order, of five names the Carlton Blues could target at the end of the season.

TRADE TARGETS: ADELAIDE, BRISBANE

3. Griffin Logue (Fremantle)

Having a career season to date, intercept defender Griffin Logue has finally found some form of consistency in Justin Longmuir's impressive Dockers side, playing 10 of Freo's opening 13 games in 2022.

However, the 24-year-old West Australian is often on the fringes and has been linked with a host of Victorian sides as he nears the end of his current contract, which is set to expire at season's end.

Carlton should be sniffing around at the opportunity to acquire more defensive prowess in their 22, with the side struggling for defensive coverage following a string of injuries to key backmen this season.

Logue averages 14.2 disposals, 2 intercept marks, and 1.9 tackles a game this season, with his best performance coming in Round 9 against Gold Coast where he racked up 29 disposals, and six intercept marks.

In recent weeks, Logue has moved into the forward line and has put in serviceable performances, showing his swingman versatility for sides gunning for his signature.

Logue wouldn't cost the Blues that much to trade for him, and he has shown ability as an intercept defender who can also lock down forwards in one-on-one contests with great efficiency.

A decision is still yet to be made on his contract status, but a move away from Fremantle could be just what Logue needs to cement a spot in a rival's defensive set-up.
