Shannon will captain the Eagles again in 2016 after he was unanimously voted to lead his side by peers for a second straight year.

Midfielder Luke Shuey has been elevated to the leadership group, while Josh Kennedy retains his role as vice-captain and Matt Priddis and Eric McKenzie have also retained their positions in the leadership group.

“Shannon had an exceptional first year as captain, and Josh, Matt and Eric were terrific support for him,” West Coast coach Adam Simpson said.

“The elevation of Luke is indicative of his growth in the last couple of years and we are excited by what he brings to the group.”
