Western Bulldogs midfielder Ed Richards said this Friday's Wildcard Round clash against Collingwood will be treated like any other week, but not really a final.
Queries over whether the AFL's newly introduced Wildcard Round will be deemed legitimate finals were squashed, but not necessarily in Richards' eyes.
"I personally think that we haven't," he said.
"I would like to win this one and then really have that cemented final spot in an elimination (final).
"So just treating this one as, I guess, another week – round 25, if you would."
AFL boss Andrew Dillon, hearing Richards' comments, said the Bulldogs midfielder may feel different on Friday in front of a packed MCG.
"I haven't heard those comments, but I'm not sure the Bulldogs have played many home games in front of 90,000- plus, so he might have a different feeling at the end of the game," he said on Monday.
The Bulldogs, despite sitting ahead of the Pies on the ladder, will host the black-and-white club at the MCG.
"There's been a bit of chat about that," Richards said.
"I love playing at the 'G, so I'm not too fussed.
"You've got to win finals at the 'G, so you've got to be able to play finals at the MCG and play well.
"We've been pretty good there this year, so hopefully we can continue some good form, play some good footy there on Friday."
Richards was also confident that teammate Aaron Naughton will be available for selection after hurting his ankle against Melbourne.
"'Naughts' is actually looking pretty good this morning, so hopefully he'll be able to get up as well," Richards said.
"Needs to get rid of a bit of swelling and stuff from that ankle, but hopefully he'll be right.
"He's the ultimate professional, so he'll get himself up.
"Whether or not it's going to play a factor, I don't know, but hopefully it doesn't. Hopefully he's right, and he kicks six."
Ruckman Tim English is also pushing for a return from a knee injury he sustained in Round 22.
