West Coast have fined seven players $5000 each for visiting a Leederville nightclub last week amid high COVID fears across Western Australia.

Jackson Nelson, Josh Rotham, Jake Waterman, Hugh Dixon, Patrick Naish, Campbell Chesser and Rhett Bazzo have all been sanctioned by the club for attending the Hip-E club the night after West Coast's damning loss to Richmond in Round 7.

Eagles CEO Trevor Nisbett has stated the aforementioned players will need to "regain the trust and respect of their teammates" after breaching club protocols.

“Given the club’s protocols and current circumstances it was irresponsible and disrespectful for those players to attend a nightclub,” Nisbett said in a club statement.

“After completing our investigation, we have decided to fine each of the players who broke specific club and player guidelines.

"We will continue to educate our players and those who transgressed will now need to regain the trust and respect of their teammates as well as everyone else at the club.”

West Coast were depleted to just 21 fit AFL-listed players for their Round 8 clash with Brisbane, which the Eagles lost by 75 points.

Nelson was among at least eight players who were ruled out of the match due to AFL health and safety protocols.

The Eagles are expecting several players to be fit for returns this weekend when West Coast host Melbourne at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
