Sydney and Carlton have completed a trade that sees Oliver Florent return to Victoria in exchange for a future third-round pick.

Florent was initially included in the Swans' offer for Charlie Curnow, but it was quickly realised to be separate from the deal.

The 27-year-old fell out of favour under Dean Cox, playing 16 games, his second-lowest season tally across his career.

"We are looking forward to welcoming Ollie to IKON Park, a player we can see adding real value to our squad, fitting an area of need for us in regards to his speed and play-making ability, while being a quality person we are looking to add to our group," Blues list manager Nick Austin said.

"He is exactly the type of player we've been targeting – someone who can execute his role at a high level, deliver on the outside with speed and has finals-level experience.

"It was clear the chance to get back to Victoria to join our club, be part of our environment and grow with a group that has significant upside moving forward was an opportunity he was ready to make his own."
Florent was contracted at the Swans until the end of 2029, and his departure is expected to help ease the salary cap pressures to ensure a Curnow move can be struck.

The former Pick 11 has played 184 games for Sydney, and will join the likes of Liam Reidy, Campbell Chesser and Ben Ainsworth as new faces at Ikon Park.

The Swans will add Carlton's 2026 future third-round selection to their suite of picks.
