Clayton Oliver has found his way to the Giants, with Melbourne receiving a 2026 future third-round pick in exchange.
Oliver was contracted until the end of 2030 on a lucrative deal, but has failed to reach the pinnacle of his football in the past two seasons.
After exploring moves to Adelaide and Geelong within that timeline, the Demons, under the guise of new senior coach Steven King, has informed the four-time best and fairest winner to explore his options, and fall out of favour.
Trade approved.

GWS, who require midfield strength, especially given the uncertainty around club legend Josh Kelly and his hip troubles, quickly found themselves in the race for Oliver.
"It's a fantastic result that Clayton has chosen to continue his career at the GIANTS," GWS EGM of Football, Jason McCartney said.
"He's an extremely talented player who will strengthen our list and will thrive in the program, culture and environment that we have to offer.
"He is exactly the type of player who can help us take the next step in our journey toward success and we're excited to see his future unfold in the orange and charcoal."
The 2021 premiership player was seen on a boat with key Giants figures last week, including senior coach Adam Kingsley, players Finn Callaghan and Lachie Ash, football boss Jason McCartney and CEO Dave Matthews, before jetting off on an American holiday.
It is understood that Melbourne is willing to contribute to half of his contract, which is reportedly around $650,000 per season.
Oliver has played 205 games since he was taken with Pick 4 in the 2015 National Draft. He was a critical piece of the club's premiership in 2021, and was also a two-time AFLCA player of the year.
The 28-year-old was a three-time All-Australian.
