St Kilda captain Jack Steele has joined his third AFL club after a trade was brokered with Melbourne.
The Saints have secured the Demons' 2027 third-round selection in the trade.
Steele was informed by the Moorabbin club to explore his options for more consistent midfield minutes, despite holding a contract for another two years.
St Kilda is set to unveil a new era that has welcomed the likes of Sam Flanders and Tom De Koning, while youngsters Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Marcus Windhager, Mattaes Phillipou and Hugo Garcia are tipped to claim prominent roles.
The Demons' interest comes as the club is working with Gold Coast and GWS to broker trades for Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

New senior coach Steven King has been on the front foot in attempting to lure rival players to the club, and has successfully landed Max Heath and Brody Mihocek.
The prospect of Steele would help boost the club's leadership profile and contribute to moulding the next generation of young talent.
A 9 News report has suggested Steele's contract could be extended to three years.
Melbourne holds Picks 24, 28, 42, 66, 71, 84, 102 for November's draft.
Steele has played 202 AFL games in 11 seasons, with 185 for St Kilda since joining from GWS in 2016.
